Service and Support

Our commitment to responsible lending means we have the solutions you need to be confident at every stage of homeownership. At Bank of America Home Loans, we’re here to help you understand all your options, so you have the support you need to be a successful homeowner.

Homebuyer assistance

Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer, don’t have an established credit history, or meet certain professional or financial qualifications, we may be able to help you become a homeowner. Contact a Bank of America mortgage loan officer to see if one of these solutions is right for you:

Down payment assistance

Bank of America Home Loans works with almost 1,000 down payment assistance programs nationwide. You may be able to get help buying your new home through a reduced-interest loan, a grant, or a subsidy of the sales price of your prospective home. For more information about these programs, visit a mortgage loan officer near you.

Government loans

These two programs can help homebuyers who meet certain qualifications become successful homeowners:

Federal Housing Administration (FHA) government loan

Bank of America Home Loans offers FHA loans as a valuable option for many first-time homebuyers, or those with low to moderate incomes.

An FHA loan could be right for you if:
  • You do not have a 20% down payment saved
  • You need more flexible qualification requirements

Visit the government website for more information.

Veterans Affairs (VA) government loan

To qualify for a VA loan, you must be a current or former member of the U.S. armed forces, or a current or surviving spouse of one.

If you meet these qualifications, a VA loan can help you:
  • Reduce your down payment requirement, sometimes to zero
  • Get a lower interest rate than is usually available with most home loans

Visit the VA loans website for more information.

Keep in mind that while these programs can help you get into a new home, you’ll need to be sure that the monthly home loan payment you commit to is one that you can comfortably afford. Bank of America Home Loans offers both of these types of government loans, so be sure to visit a mortgage loan officer near you to see if you qualify.
